Cabochon Beading Course Jan 2006

Excited members of the Club gathered together on a Sat and Sun to learn how to stitch beads around a cabochon on leather, using a peyote stitch technique. Our tutor was Jan Bartlett, and she supported a group of six people at a time to complete rows.

It was interesting to hear about the different types of materials used to achieve the effect we were after. Jan had some terrific examples of her work to show us, including beading around irregularly-shaped cabochons and how the attached necklaces made good use of the uniformity of the Japanese delica beads.

Most members achieved the first few rows of stitching (it got easier after the first row!) and everyone had a "kit" to work with, including instructions to take home. The scalloped edging for the top row of the cab beading was admired by all. We really enjoyed our time learning how to bead around cabochons and liked the idea of doing something different and handmade. Well done to Jan and Club members for an interesting two days!
