Can I visit your club before joining (to see what it's like)?
You certainly can! Please visit on a workshop night (every Monday or Tuesday, 7pm till 9pm). Meeting nights are held on the second Tuesday of every month and you are welcome to attend a meeting night if you like, but workshop nights are better for a comprehensive grand tour. When you arrive, please introduce yourself to one of our workshop officers, who can give you a tour and chat and answer any questions.

I'd like to make a donation to your club...
If you have rocks, minerals, gems or publications that you would like to donate to our club, please phone Daryl on 9350 1804 or 0417 662 292 (but don't leave any messages on the mobile) to arrange pickup.

Can your club members make a gemstone for me?
We generally do not make gems for the public, due to the fact that it often takes more work to make a stone than people feel comfortable paying for. Additionally, the spirit of the club is for hobbyists who are enjoying their hobby, hence, we can train you and work with you to help you make your own gemstones, but we prefer not to make them for the public.

Can children join your club?
Children can visit and join the club and talk to club members at any time, however to operate machinery, children need to be at least 12 years old and supervised by a parent or guardian when using machinery. At age 16, young adults can operate machinery by themselves without their parent/guardian in attendance.

I would like to get a gemstone identified...
Yes - we can assist you at our annual exhibition held in May (see calendar at the bottom of the home page for further details). Please bring your specimen to the exhibition and ask our club members to help you identify it.

I am a rockhound travelling internationally and would like to see your club...
We'd love to see you! Please visit us during meeting hours, workshop hours or Saturdays (see the Meeting & Workshop Times Page for more info). The location of our club is on the Map Page.

Can you recommend a jeweller/specimen shop/rock shop to me?
We have a list of handy shops on our Lapidary Supplies Page and also occasionally on our Classifieds Page.

I would like to sell some gemstones/rocks.
The Essendon Gem & Lapidary Club assists lapidary enthusiasts to pursue their hobby and is a not-for-profit club. The club does not have the funds for purchasing gemstones/rocks and recommends that people wanting to sell specimens try Ebay - where specimens can be highly sought after.

Foreword: I arrived back home on 20th April, 2010, after a three delightful weeks exploring the wonders of Tasmania following a great GEMBOREE® in Devonport at Easter. Sadly, at my wife Jenny’s insistance, some of this was done on foot.…
